EOCT Review
These reviews are mandatory assignments that must be completed by April 28 to be prepared for the EOCT that is scheduled for Monday, May 1. In class, we will review the concepts covered in each unit on the day before each unit is due. Some class time will be available for you to work on each unit, but most will be completed as homework. Multiple Choice Problems must show work and your answer choice (letter in a box). Constructed Response Problems must show all work with clear explanations. Answers must be submitted on the answer form that is available below or you may get a hard copy in class.
During class, each unit will be graded and reviewed on the following dates:

Football Inquiry Task
Football Toss Task - Graph Your Data:

- Your football takes a path that looks like an arc.
- The path is symmetrical about either side of the highest point.
- Create a new data table that shows your symmetrical points as well.
- Make sure that you deliniate between collected data, extrapoated data, and symmetrical data
- Extrapolate your data to a height of zero at both ends of your arc.
- Draw a line of symmetry...Dashed!!
- What is the equation for the line of symmetry?
- What is the ordered pair for the high point
- What are the ordered pairs for your x-intercepts?
- If a = xint#1 and b = xint#2, set up the following formula:
- y = (x - a)(x - b)
- Use FOIL to simplify your equation. Round to the nearest tenth.
- Create a function table for your equation.
- How does this table of values compare to the table of values that represents the arc of your football? There are two characteristics that are the same and two related to transformations that are not.
- How many arc shaped paths can pass through your x intercepts?
- What other information should be used to create THE equation for your football's arc?
16. Modify your equation to better model the arc of your football's arc.
17. Consider the Vertex Form for a Quadratic Equation:
f(x) = a(x - h)2 +k
where
a = "stretch/reflection factor"
(h,k) = vertex of your Parabola (High or Low Point)
18. Substitute your vertex and your landing point into the above equation and solve for a.
19. What is your equation that models the path of your football in Standard Form?
20. Create a function table using your new model.
21. How does it compare to the data you collected?
